PITCHING FOR SUPPORT
4 Voices
An outreach program to support any girl or woman through tough times - without judgment.
4 Voices helps girls and women facing challenges such as family and domestic violence, homelessness, loneliness, and digital isolation. Their vans are mobile “connection hubs”, customised with WiFi, phones, laptops, printers, TV, music and importantly, coffee/tea making facilities. It all starts with a cuppa and a chat, and then a search to provide practical solutions tailored to individual needs. It might be food or shelter for someone homeless, it might be safe refuge for someone fleeing violence, writing a resume or sending job applications for someone needing to find work.
Recognising the barriers individuals may face - fear, embarrassment, shame, 4 Voices offers support and connection without judgment, guiding people to different services, acknowledging that complex issues like domestic violence or homelessness requires collaboration. Whether through face-to-face meetings or communication via phone, email, or text, the ultimate objective remains unchanged: fostering connections.
4 Voices are pitching to expand their outreach programs to Waterloo in Sydney's inner East where they have identified a need for their services among the thousands of residents in local social housing towers.
Presented by:
Jo Westh
Founder, 4 Voices
Jo founded 4 Voices after working with disadvantaged people in both Australia and Cambodia, where she discovered thousands of women silenced by toxic relationships. Jo has significant experience as a CEO, building businesses, in the profit and not-for-profit sectors alongside many years of managing diverse workforces both locally and internationally.
The Freedom Hub
A non-profit organisation supporting survivors of modern slavery in Australia.
The Freedom Hub is dedicated to three primary objectives: ending modern slavery in Australia, aiding victims in their recovery and rebuilding process, and partnering with others to combat global slavery. These goals are achieved through a multifaceted approach, including raising awareness in vulnerable communities and industries, collaborating with anti-slavery networks to enhance understanding nationwide, operating a Survivor School to empower survivors to lead independent lives, and providing training and resources to Australian businesses to assess and mitigate the risk of slavery in their supply chains while integrating human rights into their organisational culture.
The Freedom Hub will pitch to expand their employment pathways training programs to accomodate an additional 10 to 15 survivors.
Presented by:
Sally Irwin
Founder, Freedom Hub
Sally is a businesswoman dedicated to providing opportunities for all Australians to combat slavery in the country and assist those who have been victimised by this crime. With over 15 years of experience supporting survivors of modern slavery in both Australia and Europe, she established The Freedom Hub, which includes a Survivor School aimed at empowering survivors to lead independent and successful lives.
Studio A
Amplifying the voices of artists with intellectual disabilities while fostering sustainable careers in the creative industries.
Studio A enables artists to network professionally, secure increased financial stability and make a strong impact on the arts scene and the community. As practising artists they experience improved mental health and a sense of belonging. By addressing the underrepresentation of artists with intellectual disabilities in Australian cultural life, Studio A strives to overcome inequities. In one year alone, Studio A artists produced over 3000 sqm of public art and their work was shown in over 25 exhibitions including the Archibald Prize.
Through their achievements, Studio A challenges stereotypes and demonstrates the potential for neurodivergent artists to excel professionally when provided with appropriate support.
Studio A is pitching to fund the completion of a resource and training guide that would be designed so it can be used in educational institutions such as universities and TAFE along with other Supported Studios. It would be the first artist and disability led training guide of this kind in Australia.
Presented by:
