PITCHING FOR SUPPORT
Bright Futures
An Australian based aid and development agency working to provide education and development opportunities for children and communities in poverty. Bright Futures operates in four countries – India, Pakistan, Kenya and Uganda.
Bright Futures works with its overseas development partners in each building individual and community capacity with a focus on the sustainable alleviation of poverty. The programs delivered by Bright Futures and its partners touch the lives of thousands of people each day and include schooling, health clinics, maternity and birthing services, clean water projects, vocational training focused on the empowerment of women, and savings and self-help groups.
Bright Futures will pitch for support of their Nawiri Mama (Flourishing Mother) Project. This project is focused on training mothers of children with a disability living in the Marurui and adjacent slums in Nairobi, Kenya in basic physiotherapy skills to enable them to better contribute to the development of their child. The program also provides the mothers with vocational and business skills training.

Cambodia Rural Students Trust
Breaking the poverty cycle through education is the fastest way to help people all over the world out of poverty - by teaching them how to fish, rather than just giving them fish. CRST is developing Cambodia's future leaders.
Since 2011, the Cambodia Rural Students Trust has been sponsoring students from disadvantaged rural families to study at high school and university - a first for many in the villages they come from.
The NGO is managed on the ground in Cambodia by our senior students, who are mentored to lead and manage the organisation as well as our 7 social enterprise Projects, empowering them with valuable life skills. Through these 7 Projects, the CRST students reach over 20,000 rural students every year, providing them with support and inspiration to continue going to school, so they too can move from poverty to empowerment.
Project W - WASH for Education (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) is one of our social enterprise Projects, installing clean water filtration systems, toilets and rubbish incinerators in disadvantaged rural schools. The CRST students lead and manage this Project and educate thousands of rural students about health, hygiene, nutrition and the environment. Funds raised from this campaign will for the first time bring clean water, sanitation solutions and WASH education to 8 rural schools and communities, impacting 4000 students and 6000 community members. The sustainable outcomes include improved health, increased productivity, and social and economic development, underscored by the CRST team becoming inspirational role models to thousands of rural students, exemplifying the empowerment of education.

Aviv Palti
Co-founder, Cambodia Rural Students Foundation
In 2011 Aviv and his family founded the Cambodia Rural Students Trust (CRST), a non-governmental organization located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. CRST's mission is to break the poverty cycle by educating future leaders, and this unique student-led organization reached over 20,000 beneficiaries through grassroots community projects last year alone.
Grass Skirt Project
A non-profit organisation, focussing on improving the lives of women, men, children, and youth in PNG through sport, education, and leadership programs.
Violence and sexual abuse against women and girls in Papua New Guinea (PNG) have reached catastrophic levels, comparable to conflict zones. A harrowing report by Human Rights Watch (2021) reveals that a woman falls victim to brutal beatings every 30 seconds in PNG, contributing to a staggering 1.5 million cases of gender-based violence annually. In 2020 alone, 15,444 cases of domestic violence were reported, yet only 250 individuals faced prosecution, resulting in fewer than 100 convictions.
To address these grave challenges and foster change, the Grass Skirt Project aims to empower individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to challenge societal norms, promote gender equality, and combat gender-based violence. By nurturing leadership qualities, the Grass Skirt Project strives to create a generation of empowered individuals who can advocate for change, inspire others, and build a future free from violence and discrimination in PNG.

Tahina Booth, a multi-racial athlete from PNG and Australia, excelled in weightlifting, powerlifting, and rugby league. Drawing from her own lived experiences, her elite sports journey ignited a passion for community development. Informed by personal encounters with gender-based violence, Tahina founded the Grass Skirt Project, creating innovative programs that utilize sport to inspire behavioral change, encourage leadership, and address the root causes of violence in Papua New Guinea.
